Echelon Software Announces Black Powder | Red Earth
Science Fiction Multiplayer Action Game for PC

New York, NY- Jun 26, 2007 multiplayer-only first-person shooter that combines highly stylized visuals and fast-moving tactical action with a persistent virtual marketplace and social network.

Set 40 years + from now on Mars, players act as mercenary soldiers executing contracts for warring corporations in a variety of urban/industrial sprawls, using bleeding edge weapons in hi-tech team based battles for virtual currency that can be used to purchase new weapons, upgrade existing weapons, buy armor and tactical enhancements to fine tune their in-game experience.

Take advantage of the wide ranging instabilities to push profit potential and outfit yourself with a dizzying array of weapons, armor and field tech. Close contracts, manage your portfolio, track your stats and build a resume from anywhere online to unlock even more contracts for better pay.

Rather than building an elaborate 3D world space trapped on your platform of choice, BPRE uses framework already found on the Internet in social networking and e-commerce applications. Players, already used to creating and managing online identities on sites like Myspace and Face Book and buying products on sites like iTunes and Amazon, will be able to jump right in with little to no learning curve. Best of all, BPRE's commercial and social side is accessible from either from inside the game or from the outside via any Web-enabled device.

Persistence is the real world, anytime the players want it.
